Well, the art is lovely, especially when I'm tripping mushrooms, but most of the levels are generic. The whole system is get from one level to another. There is no overarching plot or storyline, which is needed to hook the player to have some purpose.
And many of the levels are annoying. Not because of the level design, that was done very well to make players TIME things. But, it is annoying because of the poor collision detection. Most of the puzzles are ruined by the physics engine. It's quite amazing that this was all done from scratch in AS2. but because it isn't object-oriented, it is hard to build on it. So you'll have to rebuild your base from scratch in your next game.
My main annoyance was in the last few levels. Like 26: I died so many times because the collision against things are improper. A game that has errors in it, ruins the whole experience. And to top it all off, after I finished the last level, I got a dissatisfying credits.
But other than that the movement and feel is very good. Please try to make more of a solid working base and purpose in your future games, otherwise people will just quit in the middle of your games.

hey Eammy,
Thanks for the review, actually i put it together quite well so i might be able to edit the collision detection even though its not OOP. Your the first one to say you have found the secret level, NICE! I always wanted to put in some kind of cutscene or intro that would establish a plot but for this one there is no story line sadly. Well maybe i can put some more storyline in the sequel. I am going to try and make a new system for collision detection, and since i learned a lot from this one i think it might go pretty well. Soon i might plan on upgrading to AS3 so i can you all that fancy stuff. Thanks for the lengthy review.

This has to be one of the best Flash movies I've seen so far. It's brilliant, and is suited for nearly all ages. I love the animation and sound quality, and the whole premise. I'm sure this would work great as a series...
The coloring and lighting for the different scenes really set the mood. It really is better than most of the animated stuff I see on TV. There are so many entertaining moments in this one movie. It has comedy, drama, action, and fighting robots. There isn't much more I could ask for. The animation, like I said before, is brilliant, and surprisingly smooth for a Flash movie. Everything is clean and shiny. And the way that the animation syncs with the music, including the credit sequence! There is so much to learn from this movie. SO MUCH GOLD!!!
There is so much detail into the backgrounds, and characters. The particle effects, and lighting mixed with that makes this a beautiful work of art. And the end sequence brings up anticipation of even more epicness to come! :D
Thank you for creating such a masterpiece!

"This is a wonderful series..."
This is a review of all the Repercussions parts, because there are so many! This is not counting Castle 2 and all of Castle 3's parts, but people need to remember that this series is epic for Flash, and that it takes time to create such marvelous works. So even though not all the questions were answered, I am happy to be patient with Oscar, while I work on my own things... besides, it is great that Oscar put a level of suspense and mystery to the series. It just makes it even more epic!
Now, to begin with PART A.
I was very pleased with the beginning sequence, where I got to see the world of Earth. Sure, there wasn't much going on, but that wasn't the point. The point is to create the environment, so that there is a comparison with the next scenes in the Castle. Now, Repercussions is wonderful at creating horror and tension. You see this when Ray is being tortured into seeing things that are not there, and being told nasty things. (??? is like some sort of cruel bully)
PART B
This part shines in creating a desolate atmosphere. I should mention the music. The custom music provided here is astounding. It's like a real movie. And the music is so wonderful at each situation, whether it's horror, tension, action, or isolation. This part is really good at isolation. Not to give anything away, but being trapped in a helicopter on a vast plain in a world of doom is pretty devastating. I mean, it makes you think if you'll ever get out of here. (This theme also occurs in later parts)
PART C
I should mention that each part focuses on a specific character that was left behind. This is a great idea, to add a level of characterization. The Castle 3, there wasn't much of that, meaning you wouldn't care much if the generic soldiers died, but these parts really make you feel for them, that they are being used in some sort of conspiracy. In this part, the beginning flashback sequence confused me (though once I watched part D, I was like "Ah, I get it. I see what you did there..." The parts don't exactly follow a continuous time line.) Anyway, this part is more themed at one person vs a thousand freaks. The theme is action. He is characterized as a tough guy (He smokes and is the only one with facial hair, which kinda adds effect). The animation is wonderful, and in the later scene where he escapes and falls outside, shows very good atmosphere and lighting. I'm kind of confused with ???'s intentions. I mean, ??? wants to go to earth, but seems to be attempting to kill the only people who can take him there. Seems a bit contradictory, unless I'm missing something.
PART D1
I like how the individual parts mesh up to each other to make a nice seamless storyline. Takes a bit of thinking, but it's worth it. Anyway, like in Castle 3 Part D, this Part D has lot's of action and epic-ness to it. I should really praise the animation quality here. Oscar has done a wonderful job. I really like the chase sequence in this part. Now, you may have realized that it's a stick figure movie, but when it's done at this level of quality, I don't care. The movements are awesome. I really liked the last bit with the super-creepy zombies, and their un-human movements. That was done really well, and the music was epic through the entire thing. I'm amazed at Boomer's super-human strength. He doesn't have bulging muscles like the last demon from Part A, so how can he toss humans around like playthings?! He is emphasized as being a leader...
PARTD2
This part is great. The beginning is peaceful, but shows you around the Castle, and the world, giving more atmosphere to it. (The atmosphere to this series is just brilliant) I have some gripes where in the more intense scenes, it lags. Even putting it at low quality doesn't help much. Maybe too many filters? Anyway, that doesn't matter much, because the ending sequence is beautiful, where the pressure is intense, and everything wraps up in a neat little package.
This series is a masterpiece of flash work, where there is so much quality in every aspect. The storyline is real addictive, and I look forward to more.

This is a really interesting game. It captivates me right from the beginning with it's cute quality graphics, and then the game starts small, and then you grow, and grow your civilization. Really nice... and I have a crown :D
But what is really interesting is that, even though you are a king, and get to control lots of slaves , YOU yourself are a slave! Without even realizing! I mean, you are a slave to the girl you are constantly trying to impress. And the only reason you're doing it is because 'she's hot'. Really clever idea you have here.
I had to constantly struggle to get the buildings up, the wedding dress, the tiara and so on.... I wish there was an option to marry the pirate girl (She seemed to be less absorbed in material products :P), but anyway, once I married the 'princess' girl, I had no incentive to play further, because I knew there was nothing else I could do.
I really wish you add more choice of freedom in the next game. You have a wonderful control and gameplay system going on here. And files are saved properly in accounts. And you get rewarded for coming back to play. This is how all quality games should be like. I'm really happy with this.

Very nifty animation style, and storyline. It all feels very packaged and complete, refined with an excellent amount of detail and depth that makes it unique other cartoons.
The metaphor for sharing ideas is made very well. You don't have to think hard to get the message, and a great message that was! Why are we always trying to compete against each other, when we can work together and make something brilliant?
The characters in this have very good design, and animation. The only drawbacks I can think of right now is that the file size is a bit too large for a short animation, I don't know what's up with the missing scene, and I think Earth could have been drawn a bit better. BUT these are all minor in the great scheme of things :D
Author's Response:
file size had to be like that for me to upload it to NG as a swf with good enough quality, yeah the earth is fairly weak, but oh well, thanks man!

Real classy, man :D
Great joke submission. LOVE the beginning credit sequence. The inevitable doom animation was also nicely done. Looking at the reviews, I'm surprised others don't understand a simple joke.
Still, only a 3/10 for what it has. Would have liked some more content into it...

This series is very awe-inspiring. Everything is done to superb quality, which I hardly find on the internet. All the art, the backgrounds and characters are excellent. The animation really shines in the final battle, all the dynamic poses and action.
The thing that makes me demand more of this series is the storyline and character development, especially the Spoiler/Black Ace relationship. I won't blurt out the storyline here though. This is something you need to see for yourself. As the episodes progress, everything ties in together nicely, yet there is this deep mystery that makes you watch until the end. Simply brilliant.
Also, I should mention that TheSkark's voice acting is exceptional! It really gives emotion into the series and makes the character's much more in-depth. The cinematics are to praise. The camera angles, lighting, music and poses make this an epic production. I can learn a lot about animating just from this single cartoon, let alone the whole series. 5/5 10/10

Now that it's fixed up, this game is great. I was very pleased when controlling the pink knight, all those stylish moves.
A very good system you have is how the punishment for failure occurs. You don't lose the game completely, and have to start all over again. INSTEAD, you just re-generate your health, while the boss works his crank to fix the machine. Yep!
Now, let's take a look at the way it progresses. The further you go, you get more skills, and so does the boss >:D. The music increases in layers when you near the end, giving it a great level of the epic-ness of the whole situation. Ending animation is also quite good quality, albeit sketchy. All in all, an excellent game for Pico Day!

All of the animation, drawings, voices, and characters are done wonderfully. This is premium quality with a twisted sense of humor. I would never have guessed what would happen, that's how brilliant this is.
Also, very entertaining whenever you make your toons look like a casual story, then everything is taken to the extreme by massive proportions of horror. We need more cartoons like this.

"This series just keeps getting better..."
First off, I have to say that the animation has been greatly improved. The backgrounds & atmosphere are much more immersive, yet the same thing happens? Charlie gets pushed into this new world, where they have to adventure on towards a being that sings a song of happiness, then at the end something of great value to him is stolen.
HOWEVER, there is nothing wrong with that at all. The way that this was crafted is so precise, yet seemingly random. In reality, many people get tricked over and over again into some promise or new hope, where they rip you off in the end. I think this is a wonderful metaphor.
In this episode, we start to see some character development, as Charlie starts getting used to what's going on, and grows more weary every "adventure". I hope to see more of this series, it looks very promising. Maybe next year?
